Hamid Karzai and Barack Obama
Afghanistan President called U.S. president-elect Barack Obama following the recent incident in Afghanistan. At least, 37 civilians were killed and about 35 others were injured during US air attack in Afghanistan recently.
Both of the leaders agreed to make a number of policies related to the murder of innocent Afghanistan citizens. Throughout 2008, the U.S. air attacks have killed at least 150 civilians in Afghanistan. This also makes the support of the public against the presence of NATO troops totaling 60,000 in Afghanistan greatly reduced.
“We regret this tragic accident with the loss of lives of citizens and not guilty in Afghanistan,” said U.S. team spokesman Colonel Greg Julian on Reuters. On a separate occasion, Governor of Khost province said the air attack killed 14 innocent people that were working on road development projects at the time the incident took place.
However U.S. military denies such accusations. 14 of those people were firing towards US army when they trying stop the civilian vehicle. Coalition troops led by the U.S. to make the shot several times before the shot from a helicopter killed them.
Karzai said he hopes recent U.S election will “bring peace to Afghanistan, life to Afghanistan and prosperity to the Afghan people and the rest of the world.” He applauded America for its “Courage” in electing Barack Obama as president.
